Cars With Roof Racks
Any car with roof racks fitted will be able to take all our lengths and widths. The weight capacity of your roof and racks will be the only limiting factor. See the table below for weights of our most popular items.
There are two factors you need to consider when loading your roof racks - the manufacturer’s maximum Roof Loading Capacity rating (also called the Gross Combined Mass GCM); and the load specifications provided by the manufacturer of your roof rack system.
You should find the Roof Loading Capacity/Gross Combined Mass (GCM) in your car owner’s manual, on the vehicle manufacturer website or by searching your vehicle on Redbook. If you can’t find this information, assume it is under 100kg (few cars are made to take more than that).
You must also consider the load specifications of your roof rack or bars. If you cannot find this information in the owner’s manual or online, assume the max is under 80kg then spread the load and tie it down securely with straps.
It helps to get everything inside the vehicle that you can and only strap what you need on the roof. In this way you could get multiple shelving bays home without a problem.
